Attack of the Giants

Soft mud pittered and pattered against my still sleeping flippers. It was a new day and hopefully it would not end up like the last. Yesterday, something so scary happened to me. Rows and rows of giants descended on my home. They left huge gaping holes wherever they trudged. But  hopefully not today. The crabs were still crawling out of their holes, and the leaves of the mangroves waved in the soft morning breeze. The chirp of birds echoed peacefully throughout the the damp mushy mud of which many of my neighbors and I called home. I hoped that nothing scary was going to happen while I scavenged for food.

As  started to head back to the Muddy hole in a log I called Home I heard, I started to hear that strange noise again. High giggling voices with a few more, voices sounding like something that had authority. Then as I started back to my home, I saw the black  legs! They had destroyed everything yesterday, why were they coming back? Thedy crushed the baby mangroves, they even killed some of my friends with their frantic movement. I did not want to end up like the crab brothers! Lying squashed and dismemebered in a deep mud hole was not how I wanted to bite the dust.

After a loud projection of authority from the largest alien, the first few leigons descended upon my home. I wish there was something i could do! I did not want myself or anyone else to get hurt! I had to hide or they would pick me up and throw me! Screams and scared laughter broke out from the strange beings. What were they? How could they enjoy bringing death and destruction to my my and many others homes? Where they monsters here to bring doom to those who stood in their path, or just downright demented? I had to get out of site to lessen the chance of me getting squashed by thode rough heavy and black legs. I started toward a shady area at the base of a wooden pole semminglyhoisting up a flatblack. I scurried to shadows as fast as my flimsy flippers could carry me. *THUMP* *THUMP* *THUMP* It had begun. They were making their mark leaving huge odd shaped crevices evrywhere. The mud they stepped in turned to be even squishier then it was before. The crushed and squished mud mixed together created an odor that sent a shiver down my fragile spine. I peeked a look from behind my hiding spot and saw that they were peeling black skin off of the baby mangroves. Some were holding giant sticks and stabbing them into the ground. What were they doing? Then I noticed something else. They were giving the baby mangroves new homes! How was this possible? How could such destructive beings be giving homes to harmless mangroves? Why?

I had to get back to my home whether I got squished or not. I mustered the strength to crawl out of my hidden sanctuary. Slowly I lifted one flipper. Then the other. I was shaking with fright. I had to do this. Slowly i took step by step to the mangrove where my hole was located nearset to. I slowly tried to maintain camoflauge against the mud. The hole was in sight. Finnaly, I took the last strand of courage I had before I turned paralyzed and darted towards my hole. I felt the air collapse under as I fell the few seconds to my squishy floor. The sounds of the aliens were still there. But, the clitter clotter of their black feet was slowly dying. Was I safe? Climbing up I noticed the sound had died and the sun had positioned itself in the middle of the sky. There were no more aliens trudging in the mud. But they had certainly left their mark. The mangrove was a mess. Well, me and the other creatures had some major cleanup to do, but it did not matter. No one had gotten hurt. and that was all that seemed important then. But man, was I gonna dirty when I got to bed.
